The collaboration between Kotler Marketing Group (KMG) and Champion International began in June 1998 and continued until 2005. In order to achieve a profit improvement goal of 400 million dollars, the board of directors at Champion International insisted that the company take concrete steps to transition from a production-oriented to a marketing-oriented approach.
